BLAINE, Minn. – (May 10, 2016) – A 30-year-old man from Blaine died last week when his motorcycle collided with a semitruck trailer. The accident occurred in the afternoon at the intersection of 101st Avenue and Xylite Avenue. The ID of the man has not been released by authorities. Their were 46 motorcycle deaths in Minnesota in 2014.
To help spread awareness and decrease accidents, May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. With more than 230,000 registered motorcycles and 400,000 licensed operators in Minnesota, transportation officials are reminding riders and also drivers of other vehicles to be safety minded and watchful on the roads this summer. As well as motorists keeping an eye out and sharing the road with motorcycles, they are encouraging riders to wear bright clothing, Department of Transportation approved helmets, as well as using hand and turn signals to alert other drivers of lane changes.
