BLAINE, Minn – (June 8, 2017) – On Friday June 2, Adam J. Rodman(pictured) was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a drunk driving incident, which resulted in the death of Danilo Aguilar, last year.
In a court hearing last Friday, Assistant Anoka County Attorney Treye Kettwick said “Mr. Rodman deserves absolutely no mercy.”
According to the criminal complaint, Rodman was driving more than 60 mph in the 2200 block of 119th Ave. in Blaine. Rodman first collided with another car, and then hit Aguilar who was standing at his mailbox. Aguilar was thrown about a 100 feet, hitting a neighbors garage door. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police found Rodman by following a trail of oil and debris leading from the crime scene to Rodman’s residence a few blocks away. Police observed a heavily damaged car through the garage window and upon entry into Rodman’s room, police smelled a strong odor of alcohol and found fresh vomit on the floor, the criminal complaint said.
In March, a jury found Rodman guilty of three felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide: driving under the influence, negligent driving, and causing a collision and leaving the scene. He was also convicted of one misdemeanor count for failing to stop for a collision, the complaint said.
After the sentencing, Anoka County Attorney Tony Palumbo said he felt justice was served, but no prison sentence can return Aguilar to his family.
