(BLAINE) – Blaine Mayor Tom Ryan was apparently surprised by an award from a veterans’ support group at the city council meeting on October 7.
Jack Grams, representing Employers Support for the Guard and Reserve, presented Ryan with the Seven Seals award for his efforts with the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program in the city.
“He is selfless in the time he gives the military,” said Grams. “He is quick to response to the needs of military families in not only this area but also the surrounding areas. He is so generous with his service.”
Ryan said he has a definite affinity for military families and those who are deployed away from loved ones and their full-time employment in Blaine and other neighboring communities.
“Veterans are an emotional thing for me,” said Ryan. “I am not used to being surprised, but they really got me.”
