BLAINE, Minn. – ( Oct. 5, 2017) – Blaine has named its five finalists for the job of Police Chief. Former Chief Chris Olson retired from the job in June and the city has been working with a search firm to find his replacement.
The finalists are Mark Bruley, who works as Brooklyn Park’s deputy chief of police; Brian Podany, who works as the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office commander of the patrol division; John Swenson, the public safety director for the city of Lino Lakes; Daniel Szykulski, who is the current interim chief of police in Blaine; and Kathy Waite, who works as a precinct inspector for the Minneapolis Police Department.
The city will hold a meet and greet for the finalists on Monday, Oct. 16, from 5:30 -7 p.m. at Blaine City Hall, and hopes to announce the new chief before the end of the month.
