Upgrades start soon on Minnesota state highway 65 in Blaine and this is going to impact many North Metro residents.
“We are going to be starting construction out here in early June, said Kent Barnard from MnDOT.
To prepare the public for this major project there are open houses in the Cloverleaf Farms Room at Blaine City Hall this week.
“We’re going to be having them on the 20th and 21st – Wednesday and Thursday,” Barnard said. “On Wednesday morning at 7:30 am we start with businesses and people that work at the various businesses along highway 65. We’ll be doing a presentation about the upcoming work and what people can expect for 2026 and then a peak at the following years up until our completion.”
Public participation
Anyone in the North Metro is invited to come and be part of these info sessions.
“At 3 pm we’ll be having another meeting for the public,” Barnard said. “That will be another open house. We’ll be doing presentations at 3:30 pm and at 5:30 pm. Then again on Thursday, 3 pm to 7 pm with presentations at 3:30 and at 5:30.
When finished, the 4-year project will improve safety and mobility on highway 65 between 97th Ave. and 121st Ave./Paul Pkwy. These upgrades will speed up travel time and reduce crashes on the highway.
The “thrive on 65” project will be completed in 2029.
