BLAINE, Minn – (June 23, 2016) – Following the death on 119th Avenue in Blaine last month, the city has been meeting with the community and looking for ways to make some road safety improvements.
Last week, they held a public hearing at their council meeting to learn more about what the community would like to see on 119th Avenue. At the end of the public hearing, the city council approved several safety improvements that will accompany a traffic study.
They will install temporary 4-way stop signs at Isanti Street and Owatonna Street on 119th Avenue, as well as a temporary 3 way stop at 119th Circle and 119th Avenue.
These temporary stop sign locations will be reviewed once the traffic study is complete and could potentially be changed. The city council also approved the installation of two lighted speed limit signs along 119th Avenue.
They are also looking at the possibility of making Radisson Road a right in right out only from 119th Avenue.
The city is also going to create a Traffic Commission that would make recommendations on traffic concerns throughout the city.
