BLAINE, Minn. – (March 12, 2015) – The City of Blaine is planning an open house for the Blaine Wetland Sanctuary. They will be sharing the designs for trails and amenities in the area north of 109th and west of Lexington Ave. This 500 acre property will be developed slowly, possibly oven a seven year period. While this area mainly consists of wetlands, there are also many upland areas and together they create habitat for a wide variety of birds, mammals, amphibians and native plant species.
One of the end goals of this project is to build a nature center that will provide educational opportunities for families, school groups and others. The open house will be on March 26 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the city hall atrium, with a formal presentation at 6:45 p.m.
