(BLAINE) – Voters in Blaine will have another option for voting absentee in the general election. For the first time, the city is providing two drop boxes for voters who would rather hand deliver their absentee ballot. City staff will make sure they get to Anoka County for tabulating.
The drop boxes will be securely located inside City Hall and the Mary Ann Young Center. They are only for ballots that otherwise would be mailed in.
Blaine City Clerk Cathy Sorenson expects them to get a lot of use.
“With some of the discussions all going on with 2020 elections and COVID-19, folks would like to be able to hand their ballot to somebody rather than mail it,” said Sorenson. “So we’re providing that opportunity both at City Hall and the Mary Ann Young Center.”
