The city has big plans for an area near the National Sports Center, as a blockbuster makeover has been proposed for the 105th Avenue and Radisson Road area.
When the project is finished there will be more entertainment options for residents, visitors and tourists.
“We hope for the developer to break ground on phase 1 starting in 2024,” said Erik Thorvig, Blaine’s Community Development Director. “This is a big project and it’s going to take several years to build out.”
At an open house on May 1, Blaine officials told the crowd exactly what this future entertainment district would be like. The city and developers have a grand vision for this redevelopment that will bring in $500 to 700 million in private investments and will not include city tax dollars.
The centerpiece of the project is a boutique minor league baseball stadium. The multi-purpose facility will be used for other sports and concerts. There will also be residential units and hotels on the site.
