LINO LAKES – (July 16, 2021) – This spring, it looked like Blue Heron Days might not happen. The weekend-long festival had been organized by the city’s Parks and Recreation department, and with that department eliminated, it looked like there might not be anyone to do the work needed to organize the festival… until council member Dale Stoesz volunteered.
“I really didn’t want to lose the parade this year, because it’s really an integral part of the community.” said Stoesz.
So council member Stoesz became the parade chair, and he is hoping to have at least 30 parade participants registered shortly.
There are other events being organized throughout the weekend by the Quad Area Chamber and the Chain of Lakes Rotary.
Kevin Fitzpatrick of the Rotary has organized the Officer Silvera 5k for years. He says the rotary will do that again this year, and have a full day of events in the Community Green near the YMCA.

For Fitzpatrick, and for Stoesz it was important to find a way to bring the community together.
“I’m looking forward to just seeing people again,” said Stoesz.
