BLAINE, Minn. – (Oct. 1, 2015) – The Blaine City Council is currently seeking applicants for several advisory boards and commissions. Blaine’s Boards and Commissions provide input and guidance on the many opportunities and issues Blaine faces as a growing community. Requirements for these volunteer positions include being a resident of Blaine, attending monthly meetings, and having a community interest. The City is currently seeking applicants for the following advisory boards and commissions: Charter Commission, Park Advisory Board, Planning Commission, Natural Resources Conservation Board, Senior Advisory Council.
Applications are available here or by contacting the City Clerk’s office. Interested citizens should complete and return their application no later than Dec. 11. Applicant interviews will occur in January with appointments in February 2016. These are the details for each opening:
Charter – Recommends amendments to the city charter. Meetings held on as-needed basis and at least annually.
Park Advisory Board – Recommends policy pertaining to parks and recreation. Meetings are on the fourth Tuesday of every month.
Planning Commission – Advises on long range community planning goals and policies, immediate planning issues, and specific development needs. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month.
Natural Resources Conservation Board – Advises on the acquisition and management on public open space and trails and Blaine’s natural resources. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month.
Senior Advisory Council – Recommends programs and services for the senior citizens of Blaine. Three meetings during the year.
