BLAINE, Minn. – (Sept. 12, 2013) – Blaine’s annual World Fest is coming up this month. World Fest is the perfect event to celebrate the growing ethnic diversity in the community.
“This is an event that celebrates basically our ethnic diversity. It gives people an opportunity to come out to our event and see the different cultures in entertainment, in our information booths, and in our restaurant vendors,” says Nate Monahan, a program supervisor with the Blaine Parks and Recreation Department.
The event is put on by the city of Blaine and takes place at Town Square Park next to Blaine City Hall. The goal is to bring together members of the community and explore different ethnicities and cultures in a fun event.
“People just need to see the different cultures and celebrate and appreciate the different culture especially since Blaine has grown.”
World Fest features food from various restaurants in the area as well as entertainment including dancing, theater, and music. There will also be information booths featuring community foundations and programs.
“People are coming from all walks of life and I think we need to celebrate that.”
Be sure to check out World Fest on Sept. 21 from 1 to 5 p.m. Sampling all of the different foods will cost you $5, but the rest of the event is free.
