ST. PAUL, Minn. – (March 26, 2015) – The Centennial Fire Relief Association was back in court this week. They brought their case against Lino Lakes to the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
The case is about the Centennial Fire District and whether or not the city is required to consider a citizen petition requesting a referendum on whether or not Lino Lakes should leave the fire district and start providing their own fire services.
The argument comes down to how the city decided to leave the fire district. The Lino Lakes City Charter allows voters to challenge legislative decisions, but does not allow the voters to challenge administrative decisions.
The three-judge panel heard the arguments and asked many questions of both sides. The judges will have a ruling on the case within 90 days.
