One group of high school students took a step back in time before they embark on their future plans.
Centennial high grads returned to Blue Heron Elementary School where their academic careers began. As they mingled in the hallways some of the young kids at Blue Heron were in a state of awe.
“They get very excited,” said Blue Heron teacher Teressa Parker. “I have kids coming up here wanting autographs. We have some siblings, neighbors. I’ve got pictures for them. They love that.”
Family affair
For Jason and Benson Hartmann this moment had extra meaning. Besides being father and son they have a special Blue Heron bond.
“My favorite part about being in elementary school was that my dad was the principal,” Benson said. “It’s really a nice comeback moment to come back to Blue Heron and relive all those memories.”
“A lot of emotions,” Jason said. “Great times. It’s just fun to see your kid go through.”
Jason believes that the class of 2024 will do fantastic things as they turn the page and begin a new chapter in their personal journeys. He is confident they will make a positive impact.
“Extremely confident,” Jason said. “They know how to have a good time. They know how to put their priorities in order and they’re going to do amazing things. Not only in our community but also for our society.”
