(CENTERVILLE) – Centerville City Council on Wednesday began discussions to ban certain kinds of protests on city streets, similar to actions taken by neighboring communities over the past several months.
In a work session, council members discussed possible actions to outlaw so-called “targeted picketing” instances. This would not allow for protests on city streets that are targeted at a specific property or limit access to that property.
This is in response to a protest outside the home of former Minneapolis Police Union President Bob Kroll and his wife, WCCO-TV Anchor Liz Collin in Hugo this summer. The crowd was vulgar at times and that frightened many in that neighborhood.
Lino Lakes recently passed a similar ordinance for the same reasons.
