CENTERVILLE, Minn. – Centerville is once again holding their annual Fete de Lacs celebration. This year marks the 23rd year of the festival, and will be filled with plenty of fun events for the entire family.
Jeff Paar, a Centerville city councilmember, says, “Fete de Lacs is the festival of lakes in Centerville. It’s a weekend full of events.
Starting on Friday, there will be live music in Laurie LaMott Park, along with the all-star softball game, and he beginning of the kickball tournament. And then at dusk, it will be time for the fireworks.
“I love the fireworks on Friday night. Hollywood Pyrotechnics does an awesome job with that. We added a little bit of funding for that so it will be a longer show.” Going into Saturday and Sunday there will be the 8k and 5k races, the kids fun run, softball tournament, kickball tournament, the parade down Main Street, inflatables for the kids, a volleyball tournament, free community yoga, a dance, and the raffle drawing.
“Every year we have people comment on how much they like it. I’m just glad it keeps going on,” says Jeff. Every year, people from neighboring cities also come to celebrate Fete de Lacs and participate in the events throughout the festival.
Overall, Jeff says, one of the greatest parts of the festival is spending time with friends and neighbors and seeing the community unite together in celebrations. He says that this is one of the things that make his small town a special place to live and something that is frequently missing in larger cities.
Jeff encourages everyone to come out this weekend and see what makes Centerville special. “You can start with fireworks and end with a street dance. And catch a parade in between.”
