CENTERVILLE, Minn. – (July 16, 2015) – The Fete des Lacs celebration in Centerville starts July 25, at 8 a.m., with a Fun Run, followed by the parade at 11 a.m.. The variety of events in the festival has grown as the number of people attending has skyrocketed.
“As the years have gone on, it’s really grown,” says Jeff Paar, Centerville City Council Member. Parr continues, “We have everything from the local lacrosse, football, hockey; to the clowns- the Saint Paul Clown Club. We have Crunch, from the Timberwolves, who’s going [to] be here with a whole street performance team; as well as the Fire Relief Pipe Band. They’re always a big hit with their music.” Parr also explains that they are using this opportunity to put a spotlight on local businesses in the area.
A large group of dedicated volunteers invest great effort putting this event together. Parr says, “There are so many people involved who give so much time and effort, and donate their time. That’s what I like to see.” Par elaborates, “…that morning is, as crazy as it is, everybody lining up for the run- to see the people run by and have a great time and then immediately come to the parade and see everybody for that… and see everybody happy.”
Paar smiles and says, “…More and more people after the parade or after the run have just said…‘What a neat little city you have here.’ And that’s one of our reasons for doing this.”
Luckily, you can still get involved and register for the Fun Run and parade. Everything you need to know about the festival can be found here.
