CHANGES AT TOP OF ANOKA COUNTY GOVERNMENT AS SIVARAJAH READIES TO BECOME ADMINISTRATOR

(PRESS RELEASE) – Anoka County Commissioner Scott Schulte was elected chair of the Anoka County Board
of Commissioners for the remainder of 2019 at the board’s regular meeting May 28.
Commissioner Julie Braastad was elected vice chair.
Schulte resigned from his vice chair duties and took the chair post with a unanimous vote.
Braastad was named vice chair by a 6-1 vote; Commissioner Mandy Meisner had nominated
Commissioner Matt Look as vice chair, but her motion was not voted on because it did not gain a
second.
“I appreciate the confidence my colleagues have in me to serve as the chair of the Anoka
County Board of Commissioners,” Schulte said. “I’d like to thank Commissioner Sivarajah for
her years of leadership as chair. I will do my best in my new position to ensure meetings continue
to be run in a professional manner. I’m looking forward to the new opportunities and challenges
that come with being county board chair.”
Schulte replaces Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah as chair, who stepped down from the
post at the meeting. Sivarajah was named the new county administrator at the board’s May 14
meeting; she will begin serving the county in that capacity June 12. She had served as chair since
2011 and has been a commissioner, representing District 6, on the board since 2003.
