BLAINE, Minn. – (May 5, 2016) – The Blaine City Council had many years of continuity until a new member was elected in 2014. Now the council will see another change after the 2016 election. Long time council member Russ Herbst has announced that he will not seek reelection. Herbst has been on the council since 2000.
Mayor Tom Ryan and council member’s Dick Swanson and Mike Bourke have indicated that they will seek reelection this fall. The official filing period for the Blaine council and many other races including Anoka County Commissioner and the Minnesota Legislature begins on May 17 and closes on May 31.
