(COON RAPIDS) – For the past ten years, Anoka-Hennepin Community Education has highlighted many different healthy lifestyle choices at Community Wellness Day. This year, they will focus on slowing down and mindfulness.
“It seems like people are just kind of drowning in all the commitments, obligations, and chaos that seems to be entering in the world and in our families,” said Jen Gilbert, the coordinator of Community Wellness Day. “We are providing a lot of breakout sessions that are really going to challenge us to…. instead of thrive in that chaos, maybe back away from it.”
That means finding balance with work, family, and fitness.
“So we have classes for parents with young kids called ‘finding balance in the busyness. For adults we have programming for slowing down in a sped up world,” said Gilbert.
There will be group fitness classes in Tai Chi and yoga, for those who want to slow down, and also a pound class, for those who want something faster. There will also be plenty of ways for kids to get active, including dodge ball, floor hockey, an obstacle course, and archery, in the youth sports gym.
