ANOKA COUNTY, Minn. – Anoka County’s two compost sites recently opened for the season. The sites are located in Bunker Hills Regional Park in Coon Rapids, and in Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park in Lino Lakes. There is a $5 per vehicle fee for up to 4 cubic yards of yard waste such as leaves, grass clippings, garden waste, weeds, pumpkins, or pine cones. Larger branches and tree stumps are more expensive.
There is an additional 50 cents per cubic yard charge for yard waste in excess of four yards. If you are unsure of how to measure a cubic yard, 1 yard equals about eight lawn bags. Residents are asked to unload the yard waste at the compost piles and take bags and containers with them when they leave. Proof of residency is required to use these sites, and weather permitting the sites will remain open until November.
