HILLTOP, Minn. — A convicted felon was arrested again last week in Anoka County after allegedly threatening the lives of family members and assaulting a police officer. According to the criminal complaint, Joshua Potvin (pictured) was allegedly in possession of a .38 caliber handgun and pounding on doors in an apartment complex in the City of Hilltop. It was at this time that Potvin allegedly threatened to kill a family member.
When police responded to the scene, Potvin allegedly tried to hide from the officers and once found he proceeded to punch one of the officers in the head. According to the criminal complaint Potvin continued fighting with the officers even after a Taser cartridge was deployed. Eventually Potvin was subdued by officers.
Officers located the handgun in the apartment hallway and according to the criminal complaint Potvin stated that he stole the handgun from a DEA agent. Potvin is currently being held in the Anoka County Jail and his bail has been set at $100,000. If convicted of the various charges against him Potvin could serve upwards of 20 years in prison.
