BLAINE – (June, 2020) – A Coon Rapids woman is facing two counts of arson, following a fire that authorities believe she set in the women’s bathroom at the Blaine Marshall’s store.
According to the criminal complaint, using security footage, officers were able to identify Alicia Dawn Nicolai. The video footage showed her leaving the bathroom just minutes before employees found a fire.
The footage showed her paying for some merchandise at the register, and also showed that she did not pay a purse that she was holding.
After she was arrested, she told officers that she did not try to set a fire, but had been burning off security tags in the bathroom with the goal of stealing merchandise. After burning off the security tags, she placed them in the toilet seat cover dispenser.
Nicolai admitted to doing a similar thing at the Kohl’s in Blaine the same day.
