COVID RESTRICTIONS LOOSENED ON GYMS

CIRCLE PINES – The latest changes announced by Governor Walz was disappointing news for restaurants and bars that had hoped to re-open for indoor business by Christmas. Indoor food and beverage service will remain closed until at least sometime in January. Outdoor seating is being allowed at fifty percent capacity.

But the news was better for gyms and fitness clubs like Complete Performance of Circle Pines. Indoor workout venues have been closed for the past four weeks. Many have focused efforts on Zoom sessions instead. But now the Governor says they can reopen at 25 percent capacity.

Owner Jordan Davies says it’s a relief.

“I think the sooner we can move past this and kind of continue our growth, at this point it limits our growth, which is the tough part. As soon as we can expand on that and move past this and maybe increase to fifty percent, we’ll be in a much better spot and continue to grow our business.”

Davies says its be especially challenging since Complete Performance first opened its doors in September of 2019. Gaining traction with clients is difficult when a business is forced to shut down 3 times in 9 months.

“We closed back in March for the first time. It was tough,” said Davies. “They say the first year of business is always hard and for this to happen in our first year of business made it incredibly tough. We were fortunate that when we opened back in July, our clients were eager to get back in and take any necessary protocols to get back in.”

Davies says she was nervous the Governor wouldn’t allow gyms to reopen at all. So even 25 percent is better than nothing at all for a new business.
