BLAINE, Minn. – (April 23, 2015) – A crime spree came to an abrupt end Friday when police intercepted two people at a store after following a trail of purchases made on stolen credit cards.
According to the criminal complaint, Trenton James Oney, 28, and Jessica Marie Potter, 29, committed the crimes together. Potter allegedly stole a purse and keys to a vehicle from the locker room of the Xperience Fitness in Blaine.
From there, they drove the truck to a nearby neighborhood and abandoned it, after taking the credit cards and check book. By the time the victim realized her keys and credit cards had been stolen, Oney and Potter had already made a purchase at a Target in Coon Rapids.
Police then followed the credit card trail to a Best Buy in Coon Rapids, where employees helped them identify Potter and Oney. They were in possession of the victim’s checkbook and credit cards, as well as items purchased with those cards.
Their purchases totaled $1,402. Police arrested the two for motor vehicle theft and credit card fraud.
