ANOKA, Minn. – (April 9, 2020) – The Anoka County Board of Commissioners has approved a service redesign for the Anoka County Library system that allows three locations to offer curbside pickup of library items.
Patrons will be prompted to choose one of these pickup locations when they place a hold online at anokacounty.us/1758/Libraries. Once a patron’s hold is ready for pickup, that patron will need to call the curbside phone number 763-324-1595 to make an appointment to pick up their item(s). The locations are:
• Northtown Library, 711 County Hwy. 10, Blaine
• Rum River Library, 4201 6th Ave., Anoka
• Johnsville Library, 12461 Oak Park Blvd., Blaine
Book returns at all non-curbside locations have been closed. Due dates on items have been extended. There will be no late fees assessed while Anoka County libraries are closed to the public.
“The library continuously shifts to meet community needs,” said Anoka County Library Board President Mark Lenz. “Curbside pickup is one more way the library sees a need and finds a way to mold their services to meet that need. We are happy to consistently bring ideas, information, and inspiration to Anoka County residents, especially in this challenging time of uncertainty.”
Commissioner Robyn West, the liaison to the Library Board, noted this change to library services is only temporary, but it is needed for lending library items that provide education and entertainment to our residents while complying with social distancing during the coronavirus outbreak.
“Our library system is important in the lives of Anoka County residents, and that importance is underscored even more while stay-at-home measures and social distancing practices are in place,” West said. “We hope this curbside service will allow our citizens to keep using the
great resources our libraries have to offer until we can open our doors to the public again.”
