ST. PAUL, Minn. – (June 4, 2015) – Before the Minnesota Legislature returns to finish the state budget, a group of DFL legislators is asking for a 48 hour review period of all bills that would be voted on during the special session. The group, that includes several north metro legislators, sent a letter to Governor Dayton and the House and Senate leadership.
After a hasty end to the regular session, the legislators said that they have heard from many constituents who were not pleased with the way the legislature conducted its business. The letter also states that during the 48 hour review period, the committee of jurisdiction for each bill would hold an informational hearing to allow public testimony and questions.
A special session could be called any day and will be needed before July 1, to avoid a partial government shutdown.
