(BLAINE) – Police will collect prescription drugs that you may no longer need and don’t know how to dispose of properly.
National Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 27. It’s a nationwide effort to remove prescription medication so those who don’t need it can’t abuse it.
The national effort has brought in more than 10 million pounds of medication since 2010.
Blaine officers have a drop-off point available at city hall all of the time and say keeping these drugs out of the wrong hands is critical to keeping more people safe.
“With the current opiod crisis, it is important to get any unused or expired medication—controlled substances—out of the hands of children, family members, anybody who is addicted who might take advantage of that, of them being there, and possibly overdose on it.” said Kim Kiley, Community Outreach Specialist for Blaine Police Department.
