EAST BETHEL, Minn – (Aug. 3, 2017) – Distracted driving sent a member of a road construction crew to the hospital in critical condition.
A 33-year-old woman was hit by a car driven by a 19-year-old woman from East Bethel on 237th Ave. The injured woman is Laura Soto. She is from Fergus Falls, but was working on a crew in East Bethel as a sign holder.
Soto was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center and remains in critical condition. She’s being treated for multiple blunt force injuries sustained when she was hit.
The driver has not yet been charged or cited with any offense.
The case remains under investigation by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol Reconstruction team. Upon completion of the investigation the Anoka County Attorney’s Office will review the matter and decide if and what charges are suitable.
