BLAINE, Minn. — (Dec. 5, 2013) — Shots rang out on a busy street in Blaine this week. Blaine Police Chief Chris Olson told North Metro TV that his department was dispatched on Tuesday afternoon on a shots fired call.
The incident took place between two vehicles traveling southbound on University Avenue near County Road 10. The occupant or occupants in a dark colored passenger vehicle opened fire at a nearby vehicle. The victims vehicle was struck by at least four bullets and one bullet ended up lodged in a pane of glass at the nearby Leeann Chin restaurant. Olson said that they believe the individuals in the two vehicles were known to each other and that this was a targeted attack. The suspect in the dark colored vehicle fled the scene and is still on the loose. Olson said that they are getting some information from the victim who is not a resident in Blaine.
A drive by shooting is extremely rare in Blaine in fact Olson said he can not remember an incident like this happening during his tenure on the force. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Blaine Police Department at 763-785-6168.
