ANOKA COUNTY – (Jan. 11, 2018) – Ten percent more drivers were arrested for drunk driving over the recent holiday season compared to last year.
More than 2,600 drivers were arrested statewide between the day before Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve. The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office was responsible for 23 DWI arrests, the Blaine Police Department made 29 arrests, and the Lino Lakes Police Department had 32 arrests.
Across the state, the highest recorded blood alcohol level was at an arrest in Coon Rapids, where the driver was more than six times the legal limit at .492.
Law enforcement agencies encourage all drivers to plan a sober ride, no matter what the occasion.
