BLAINE, Minn. – (Nov. 10, 2016) – Many area yards are full of leaves as most trees have now turned and the leaves have fallen. There are several options of what to do with your leaves now that they are on the ground. You can simply mow them into the grass and they act as mulch for your yard. If you have too many to mow or prefer to rake your leaves their are a couple of local options for disposing of them. You can bring your leaves to the Anoka County compost sites.
For five dollars per car load you can bring your leaves and grass clippings to the compost sites. One is located in at Bunker Hills and another in Lino Lakes. Whatever you do with your leaves do not rake them into the street. All decaying plant material that ends up in the storm sewer and eventually lakes, ponds and streams contributed to greater phosphorous levels and poorer water quality.
