BLAINE, Minn. – (Oct. 19, 2017) – Just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday October 18, police received a call of a personal injury accident on University Ave. at 85th Ave. A car and a semi truck had collided. The semi was southbound University Ave. and the passenger car was eastbound 85th Ave. Mohamed A Amin, 19, from Blaine, was the driver and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Two juvenile passengers, ages 12 and 13, were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with critical injuries.
The driver of the semi-tractor trailer, a 41-year-old male from St. Paul remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The accident is currently under investigation by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, Anoka County Medical Examiner’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol and the Blaine Police Department. Identity of the deceased male will be released by the Anoka County Medical Examiner after notification of family.
