FETE DES LACS COMES TO CENTERVILLE

CENTERVILLE, Minn. – (July 12, 2018) – The city of Centerville is gearing up for their summer festival, Fete des Lacs.  The festival features six days of fun family-friendly events.

The festival is a celebration of the city’s French-Canadian beginnings, and also a great time to experience the city’s parks, lakes and trails. Each year, there is also a theme to the festival, most notably seen at Saturday’s parade. This year, Centerville will be celebrating the Centennial School District.

“This year’s them is Cougar Pride,” said Mayor Jeff Parr. “We’re celebrating not only the sports teams, but the school itself.”

There are a few changes to events this year. The fireworks will be at LaMotte Park on Friday at 10 pm, and Saturday morning’s run starts early than it has before at 7:30 am.

There will be public safety night at Centerville Elementary on Wednesday, featuring police cars, fire trucks, a k-9 demonstration, emergency management drone demonstration and a fire trailer.

On Thursday there will be stand-up paddleboard yoga and the bald eagle water ski show.

Saturday will feature a full day of music in the park, along with yoga, free kids eye screening, obstacle course and more. And on Sunday, there will be a full day of events in Lamotte Park, and another waterski show.

“It’s really a week-long celebration, it’s not just Friday and Saturday,” said Paar.
