LINO LAKES – (April 29, 2021) – You never know what a little spring cleaning will find. The City of Lino Lakes found a wide variety of used equipment they no longer need. So they’re holding a surplus sale that includes everything from filing cabinets, to floor scrubbers to footballs.
City officials say everything is priced to sell. There’s a wide variety of chairs going for two to five dollars. Many file cabinets are no longer needed because more information is kept digitally now. They come in a variety of sizes and go for about $15. There’s even a selection of floor scrubbers for sale for $300 each. They’re not needed because the city now hires a service to do that work.
“We went around to the local storage units one day and realized that we just had a lot of stuff that’s sitting in storage,” said Kellie Schmidt, a Lino Lakes Administrative Assistant who was organizing the sale. “Space is limited everywhere and we needed to use it, so we put together items that we were looking to get rid of.”
If you’re looking for sporting equipment, there’s plenty to choose from. Footballs, basketballs, tennis balls, and t-shirts from past recreation programs are all available.
“Some of the items are from past recreation programs that we are not going to bring back,” said Schmidt. “We anticipate still having recreation programs but take for instance some we had ten years ago like a football program. But now there’s a local football association, so we wouldn’t be running that program again. We have those types of items sitting around and we thought the public could maybe benefit from being offered these items.”
You’ll even discover some Lino Lake bobble heads for your collection. There’s a dozen for sale for one dollar each.
Some of the larger items are for sale now during a pre-sale. But many smaller things will only be available on the sale days of May 21 and 22. Check with the Lino Lakes Public Service Department on how to take home a bargain. You can e-mail them at: PublicServices@linolakes.us.
