BLAINE, Minn – (Aug. 10, 2017) – Following a large fire, a Blaine family is without a home. The fire on 118th Avenue resulted in twenty emergency vehicles responding to the blaze from several different fire departments.
“The first arriving companies found a fully involved attached garage … with the fire extending into the main part of the house,” said Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Chief Charlie Smith.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. Smith said “it’ll be under investigation for some time.”
Crews worked for hours on the house fire, but didn’t know how much of the house or the family’s belongings would be salvageable.
“It’s heavily damaged, so it will be hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage,” Smith said.
The home was less than one mile from the closest fire station.
