LINO LAKES, Minn. – The Centennial Middle School had some special guests this week, who helped them practice fitness habits. Two former contestants on The Biggest Loser, who lost a combined weight of 225 pounds, visited the school and encouraged the students as they ran, and helped teach the students more about nutrition and healthy eating.
The students spent a day outside the classroom this week, learning life lessons that extend well past comma use and atomic structure. The students spent the day learning about healthy eating, nutrition and exercise with the help of the Kids Fit Foundation.
The Kids Fit Foundation is a national non-profit that inspires children to develop a healthy love of fitness at an early age, and help them develop fitness habits to last a lifetime.
“We are excited to be here,” said Jackie Evans, who works with the foundation, and recently lost 90 pounds while she was a contestant on The Biggest Loser.
The students participated in a one mile fun run/walk on Kids Fit Day. The students have been logging their mileage over the past ten weeks, and as of this fun run, some of the students will have run the length of a marathon.
Jackie says that parents modeling good behavior for their children is very important, especially when it comes to physical activity and healthy eating. The school agrees, and most of the teachers also walked or ran with the students.
