LINO LAKES, Minn. (Nov. 7, 2013) — A Florida woman was arrested in Anoka County for allegedly stealing the identity of eight different people.
43-year-old Stacy Lashon Sherman was arrested after her and a companion allegedly attempted to fill a fraudulent prescription at the Target in Lino Lakes.
Late last month Lino Lakes police officers were called to the Target after a woman dropped off a suspicious prescription for 150 tablets Oxycodone.
According to police reports, the prescription was ordered by a doctor out of Florida who is the subject a federal investigation. Officers learned that all prescriptions issued by that doctor are fraudulent.
Sherman and her companion returned to the store late the same evening and as she exited the store, officers blocked the car and removed Sherman to speak with her. While searching her purse, several prescription bottles were found with up to eight different identities of separate victims.
Sherman had been charged with count one identity theft of eight or more direct victims and a fifth degree controlled substance crime. If convicted, Sherman faces up to 20 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.
It is unclear at this time if Sherman’s companion will be charged.
