BLAINE, Minn. – (Oct. 8, 2015) – As the seasons change into fall and then winter, and CDC warns about the rise of influenza.
According to the Centers of Disease Control, October is the official start to the flu season and getting vaccinated is strongly recommended. The most common form of influenza this year is expected to be a derivative of the H1N1 virus.
This year’s vaccine will protect against the H1N1 strain, H3N2, and the B virus.
Symptoms of the flu include 100 degree fever, cough, sore throat, headaches, chills, fatigue, vomiting, nausea, dizziness, and shortness of breath.
On average there are over 36,000 influenza related deaths each flu season. Doctors recommend getting the vaccine as soon as possible because it takes about two weeks for the body to build immunity. Getting the vaccine is fairly quick, easy, and inexpensive. The vaccine can be given at your doctor’s office, most pharmacies, or at any community immunization clinic.
