BLAINE, Minn. – (Jan. 11, 2018) – Anoka-Hennepin’s annual Community Wellness Day will take place on Saturday, Jan. 20 at Roosevelt Middle School in Blaine. The event brings together industry experts and community partners to help you on your path to wellness.
“The reason you should come out is because if you are wondering what you should do to reach your wellness goals this year, we have just about everything you could imagine available to checkout,” said Jen Gilbert, the Anoka-Hennepin Wellness Coordinator.
Starting the day at 9:00 a.m. will be the keynote speaker with her story of being a survivor in more ways than one.
“We’re kicking of the morning with our keynote speaker, this year we have Sunday Burquest, she is a cancer survivor and she is also a former contestant on the hit show, Survivor and she’s delivering a very powerful and personal inspiring story called Survivor Strong and I believe that this story will just impact whether you are a survivor or know of someone or even just whatever obstacles you’ve had in life, it’s just a really inspiring story of resiliency and I think everyone would just really enjoy to hear her speak on that day,” Gilbert said.
The day will also include several sample health and fitness classes, educational wellness seminars, a free open swim and much more. Community Wellness Day plays a part in the overall mission of the school district.
“This supports our schools districts mission because our goal and mission is to prepare students for the rest of their life and [in] community education we also want to support not only our students but our early childhood learners all the way up to our adults and continue to enhance their lives with the new programming that we offer,” Gilbert said.
