“We have had some issuesthat we weren’t actually aware of,” said Hanson.
The biggest issue – the food shelf doesn’t show up on Google maps – even when dozens of other food shelves do. Hanson thinks this mapping mistake isn’t helping, and that some people even in the immediate neighborhood don’t know the food shelf is here.
On top of this problem, food prices are up.
“I personally am shocked. My grocery bill has almost doubled,” said Hanson.
And Hanson believes that the extra costs could make the food shelf a good choice for more people.
“Come on down, we don’t make you prove you need food,” said Hanson
The food shelf is open Mondays and Thursdays from 4 to 6 pm. There are no residency or incomes requirements. To find it, follow the loop that goes from the front of Circle Pines City Hall, past the Centennial Library, and the food shelf is across from the park.
