ANOKA, Minn. – (Sept. 27, 2013) The Anoka Hennepin Educational Foundation is just days away from their largest annual event – The Northern Stars Celebration. This year the Northern Stars Celebration will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Marriot Minneapolis Northwest, formerly the Northland Inn. Tess DeGesst, the director of the foundation is very excited for the 19th annual event, “we’ve got fabulous new live auction items this year”. The live auction items include a trip to Extreme Sandbox where participants can use heavy machinery such as bull dozers. Also, included in the live auction are two tickets to the entire week of all star game festivities next summer in Minneapolis as the Twins host the 2014 Major League Baseball All Star Game.
All the money raised will go towards fulfilling the mission of the foundation. More than ever the foundation is being called on to support the basic needs of the students in the district. “Our foundation has been supporting the food shelves in our school buildings, also homeless kids in our school district” said DeGeest.
Besides helping meet students basic needs the foundation is focused on three areas: early childhood education, talent development, and career and college readiness.
