BLAINE, Minn. – (Dec. 20, 2013) – When living and working in the suburbs it is difficult to survive without reliable transportation. Local non-profit Free To Be, Inc. works everyday to provide for the transportation needs of Anoka County residents. “Free To Be helps local families in Anoka County with either car repair or car donation” explained Executive Director Jim Huff.
Earlier this year the local philanthropic group, TPC Rose, selected Free To Be as their charitable benefactor for 2013. And as a result Free To Be recently received the largest single gift in the history of the organization, $87,000. To put that donation in perspective, Free 2 Be’s largest annual fundraiser, The Taste of Blaine, brings in about $30,000 to the organization. This gift will make a huge difference in the community. “We’re going to be able to provide more services…we’re going to be able to say yes more often.”
Besides the large donation TPC Rose was also responsible for providing a car to young mom Brittney Oelman, and she knew exactly where she was heading first in her new car. “To pick my son up from school” said an excited Oelman.
