GET OUTSIDE FOR SNOW DAY

LINO LAKES, Minn. – (Jan. 18, 2018) – Wargo Nature Center in Lino Lakes is gearing up for their annual Snow Day event where they share lots fun activities you can do in the winter time. The event is one of the most popular days of the year for Wargo, with somewhere between 400-900 attendees.

“The idea of Snow Day is always to get people outside and show them that there are lots of things to do in the winter time,” said Anoka County Parks recreation coordinator Todd Murawski.

Not only will there be lots to do outside, but there are indoor events to keep you warm, including a live animal presentation.

“The Minnesota Zoomobile will be here this year for a live animal presentation,” said Murawski.

Surprisingly to Todd, there’s one particular activity that tends to be the most popular amongst event goers every year.

“Our most popular things that people want to do it to get out on the lake and ice fish,” said Murawski.

While folks are trying their luck ice-fishing, there are other activities that may not be as well known for attendees to try, like kick-sledding.

“The kind of look like a dog sled, someone sits so you have a rider. The other person stands and kind of kicks, hence the name, and pushed the kick sled and then jumps on and rides down the hill,” said Murawski.
