BLAINE – (May 13, 2021) – Dialing back COVID restrictions is helping schools finalize their plans for graduation. Ceremonies will seem more normal this year than they were in 2020.
After a year when graduations were done on line or in a video, loosening the restrictions means high school graduations should have no COVID restrictions on numbers of attendees if they’re held after May 28. Blaine and three other Anoka-Hennepin High Schools will graduate at Mariucci arena on the University of Minnesota campus on June 6.
“It’s great news for graduation because our events should have no capacity limits,” Anoka-Hennepin Superintendent David Law told the school board. “In their outdoor ceremony at Goodrich Field, Anoka wouldn’t have masks, indoor at Mariucci would have masks. But there will be unlimited parents as in years past, and all graduates will be on the floor, so that’s great news.”
Spring Lake Park High School seniors also graduate at Mariucci. Centennial High School seniors will graduate on the football field in two sessions. Each Centennial senior is allowed four tickets.
