BLAINE, Minn. – (May 25, 2017) – Area ground water and storm water levels are at record highs due to heavy rains on top of already saturated land. Your sump pumps are probably running much more frequently than you are used to.
City officials want to remind residents to not pump your water directly into the street but have it filter through your grass to slow the flow. The storm water system is functioning as designed. Once the Mississippi River can drain, the water in the city system will start to drain as well. If you have a rain garden or infiltration basin on your property, it is probably holding some water but will begin to infiltrate as soon as the weather allows.
Concerns regarding storm water drainage can be director to your city’s public works department.
