HAM LAKE, Minn. (Sept. 12, 2013) – A 15-year-old boy from Ham Lake is in the hospital after sustaining serious injuries when he was hit while riding his bike across Highway 65.
The boy is listed in critical but stable condition at a local hospital. He was riding his bicycle in the intersection of Highway 65 and Crosstown Boulevard Tuesday evening when he was struck by a southbound car. After an accident reconstruction was conducted, local authorities reported that the boy was crossing against a red light and that the vehicle had a green light. The driver of the vehicle, a 58-year-old man from Elk River, remained at the scene of the accident and was questioned by police.
Authorities have said that there was no indication that the driver was under the influence of any substance at the time of the accident.
