HAM LAKE, Minn. – For the seventh consecutive year, thousands of people will gather in Ham Lake Park for this year’s Ham Lake Snowbowl.
The annual event includes a variety of activities, including dog sledding, ice fishing, broomball, skijoring, and helicopter rides. This year’s event promises events for everyone who enjoys the great outdoors. Snowball Committee member Chris Mickman explains, “There’s a lot of outdoor events in the state, but one of the things that separates the Ham Lake Snowbowl from everything else is… [the] variety.”
One new event for this year is the Arctic Challenge 5k, which leads participants on an adventure race through snowy obstacles. Returning this year is the medallion hunt, which officially begins on Monday, February 4, when the first clue will be released. According to Snowball Committee member Tim Holtz, the medallion has already been hidden, and anticipation regarding its whereabouts is building.
The Ham Lake Snowbowl is still looking for teams to compete in the snow sculpture contest. Participants must purchase a $3 Snowbowl button to take part in events.
The Snowbowl runs from 9am until 3pm at Ham Lake Park on February 9.
