HAM LAKE, Minn. (Sept. 12, 2013) – A neighbor’s involvement may have prevented a dangerous situation from getting much worse.
Late last month at the Ham Lake Apartments on Highway 65, a neighbor called police to report a domestic assault. According to the criminal complaint, the neighbor saw Wesley Dale Novak dragging a woman inside his apartment while holding a butcher knife in his other hand. This neighbor said she heard an argument, and heard Novak begin yelling and using degrading profanities towards the woman.
At one point, the neighbor heard Novak say that he was going to kill the woman. Police arrived and were able to intervene. The woman had two cuts on her face from the knife. Novak was charged with one felony count of making terroristic threats – a crime that comes with a sentence of up to five years in prison.
Novak has previously been convicted of controlled substance crimes, possessing drug paraphernalia, and obstructing the legal process.
