SPRING LAKE PARK, Minn. — William John Kelo Hammac, 31, pled guilty to one count of first degree aggravated robbery in exchange for the charges of burglary, kidnapping, assault and terroristic threats being dropped.
Hammac had met the Spring Lake Park woman through an online dating service in December. After communicating through email and phone, Hammac met the woman at her home. After a short time, the woman asked him to leave. Hours later, Hammac woke the sleeping woman, punched her, cut her with a knife, and put her in the trunk of his car. He had already filled his car with a number of her belongings. He drove the woman around, stopping to punch her and cut her, before letting her go in St. Paul. He threatened to kill her and her daughter if she contacted police.
Hammac was arrested the following day, and subsequently ruled competent to stand trial. He will be given credit for the 138 days he has already served in jail.
